 Immigrant Women in STEM Conference

TGC’s Immigrant Women in STEM Conference was first hosted in January of 2023. Stay tuned for the next conference in 2024.

Conference Details

On January 24, 2023, TGC hosted Canada’s immigrant women in STEM, researchers, policy makers, academics, and representatives from government, immigrant settlement agencies, NGOs, and business associations for a day of knowledge-sharing that highlighted the untapped economic potential of immigrant women in STEM. Presentations discussed:

  • What we know about the talent pool of Immigrant Women in STEM and the challenges they face

  • Why all sectors in Canada can benefit from improving the labour market integration of these highly-skilled women

TGC’s Role

The results of TGC’s pan-Canadian, participatory research work on the labour market challenges faced by immigrant women in STEM have highlighted persistent cross-sectoral gaps in supports that could help them find appropriate jobs to alleviate a significant part of the longstanding talent shortage in Canada’s burgeoning STEM sectors.

The pandemic has further underscored the urgent need for their expertise in our economy.

TGC’s Immigrant Women in STEM Conference aims to create a space for interested organizations to present the latest data and explore ideas that can enable this highly-skilled talent pool to contribute meaningfully to Canada’s innovation economy and boost our global competitiveness.
